You’ve booked your appointment, you’re excited to be attending Butterfly Bridal Boutique and try on some of their beautiful gowns but not quite sure what to expect….. Read on for some helpful hints and tips as to how you can gain the most from your bridal consultation
First and foremost, come with an open mind. This is especially important if this is your very first experience of trying on wedding dresses. Dresses look very different in images (after all we are not all size 8 and 5ft9 tall), on a hanger or mannequin. The Butterfly Bridal team are here to advise and help you. We are familiar with the collection of dresses so know what suits certain body shapes, size and height. We also have had many years’ experience working with Brides and helping them choose their dream dress.
If you have a Pinterest board or wedding scrap book please feel free to bring it along. This will work well as a starting point. At Butterfly Bridal we love to hear all about your special day! Which venue you’ve chosen, how many bridesmaids you’re having, your colour theme or styling ideas. Many of these factors may contribute towards choosing your dream dress. For example, if you’re travelling via boat to your reception, in a marquee/garden scenario you may not want a dress with the longest train. If you’re getting married abroad you’ll want a dress that will travel well and that perhaps isn’t too heavy.
What should I bring on the day?
Quite literally all you really need is yourself! We advise neutral underwear if at all possible and if you have a strapless bra please bring it along. These are not essential! We will provide shoes to try on with the dresses but if you already have your wedding shoes (or just a comfy pair of heels) please bring them to your appointment.
Who should I bring with me?
This is always a difficult question because, of course, you want your Mum, bridesmaids, Mum-in-law to be, Nan – the list is endless – all to come along and enjoy the experience with you. After all it is a big decision and you want your nearest and dearest to be part of that.
In our experience, we find Brides gain the most from their appointment if they attend with 1 or 2 guests who they trust and will give honest and unbiased opinions. When you have lots of people, invariably, they all have a different opinion of what they like (or don’t like) and this can become overwhelming, confusing and hinder your decision making. Once you have chosen your dress you are welcome to return with other guests for a styling appointment where we can guide you on choosing the perfect accessories to compliment your dream dress
To ensure we keep our sample gowns in tip-top condition it would be great if you could be sparing with fake tan and make-up
